About the LiftMaster Model J
The LiftMaster Model J is an industrial-duty jackshaft commercial door operator with Logic 5.0. It mounts beside the door (wall or hood) for high-lift or vertical-lift sectionals, and for rolling doors and grilles. Available in 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 HP — we size horsepower to the door weight and use, not a one-size-fits-all package.
J vs H in plain terms: same class of industrial jackshaft motor. The H adds a built-in floor-level chain hoist for manual operation if power fails. Most commercial jobs want that backup, so we often quote the H. Choose the J when you do not need the hoist on the operator.

Use a jackshaft when the door is high-lift or vertical-lift, or when a trolley rail above the door is not practical. For standard-lift sectionals with a ceiling track, a trolley (T) is usually the better fit. Gear-reduced heavy industrial is a step up (GH). Not sure? Call — we match style and HP to the door and building.
