How to read Amarr commercial model numbers

Here’s a simple way to read the model number on steel sectionals:

  • First two digits → steel gauge class — e.g. 20 = 20 ga, 24 = 24 ga, 27 = 27 ga. (25 family is nominal 24 ga value line.)
  • Middle digit → construction / insulation family — on ribbed lines, 0 / 1 / 2 track single / double / triple (e.g. 2402 / 2412 / 2422). 3 → polystyrene sandwich series (2432, 2732). 4 → polyurethane energy series (2042, 2742).
  • Last digit → thickness / variant2 is usually a 2" section; 1 often thinner (~1-3/8"); 3 can mean thicker (e.g. 2743 at 3" poly).
  • 35xx = aluminum full-view family (not steel gauge). Rolling 40xx / 5xxx use a different scheme.

Always confirm gauge, insulation, and size on the product page and written quote — options can change.

Sectional steel

Overhead sectional doors in steel. Blurbs list gauge, thickness, and insulation so model numbers make sense at a glance.

Ribbed steel (workhorse)

Deep-ribbed sectionals. Model families share one page (single / insulated / triple options).

Polystyrene insulated

3-layer steel skins with polystyrene insulation — stronger energy story than open ribbed single-layer.

Polyurethane insulated (energy)

Higher R-values for docks, warehouses, and conditioned spaces.

Sectional aluminum

Full-view aluminum for automotive, retail, education, and open-air style openings.

Rolling slat

Steel rolling slat doors for security and commercial openings.

Rolling sheet

Rolling sheet doors for docks, warehouses, and storage.
